David Atkin

David came to Opening the World hoping to assist with program development and to find a new way to be in service to others. Along with his 35-year career with Bay Area Fire Districts, he has volunteered with a number of charities, driving fundraising and facilitating events. His twenty years in Union leadership gave David experience in conflict resolution and contract negotiation. At 16 years old, David was offered guidance by a caring adult that set him on a path to the Fire Service and opened the world to him. He sees Opening the World as a great opportunity for him to pay that kindness forward.
