These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of www.OpeningTheWorld.org (the "Site"), operated by Opening the World ("OTW," "we," "us," or "our"), a fiscally sponsored project of Community Initiatives. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms.

1. Use of the Site

You may use the Site to learn about OTW's mission and programs, apply to programs, subscribe to communications, and make donations. You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and not to interfere with its operation or security.

2. Program Applications

  • Submitting a program application does not guarantee acceptance into any OTW program.

  • Applicants must provide accurate and complete information. Applicants under 18 must have parent or guardian consent as part of the application process.

  • OTW reserves the right to determine eligibility and participation in its sole discretion.

3. Donations

  • Donations made through the Site are processed by Zeffy, a donation and donor management platform approved by our fiscal sponsor, Community Initiatives.

  • Donations are generally non-refundable except as required by law or at OTW's discretion.

  • Tax receipts are issued in accordance with Community Initiatives' fiscal sponsorship policies, as OTW operates under Community Initiatives' 501(c)(3) status.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including the OTW name, logo, text, graphics, and images — is the property of Opening the World or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content without prior written permission.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Site to upload harmful content, misrepresent your identity, attempt unauthorized access to Site systems, or use the Site in any way that could harm OTW, its participants, staff, or other visitors.

6. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as Mailchimp, Google Forms, our donation and donor management platform, or OTW's social media profiles on platforms like Instagram and Facebook). We do not embed social media feeds or widgets on the Site. OTW is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third-party sites.

7. Disclaimers

The Site and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. OTW does not guarantee the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Opening the World and Community Initiatives shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
